1989 NCAA Championship Michigan vs. Setan Hall
Description: The Kingdome in Seattle, Washington played host to the 1989 NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Championship game on the evening of April 3rd. This battle was a clash of two #3 seeds as the Michigan Wolverines from the mid-west region took on the Seton Hall Pirates from the west region. The match-up was one of the firsts, as it was the first title game appearance for both Michigan and Seton Hall, and would eventaully become the first national championship for the University of Michigan and their head coach, Steve Fisher.
The Wolverines were able to hold off a scrappy and determined Seton Hall team to claim the national title. It took an overtime effort to finally put away the Pirates, but the Wolverines, led by Glen Rice was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, as he netted 184 total tournament points in leading his Wolverines to their first national title.
